Biostimulators
Our Formula
As a clinic, Le Formulaire is dedicated to finding the most efficacious regenerative techniques for our patients. The emergence of biostimulators in the field of aesthetic medicine has created an amazing opportunity to add powerful stimulators to enhance skin rejuvenation while also adding subtle volume to refresh the face simply by harnessing the skin’s own biological processes. The three main biostimulators available with the longest safety records are Sculptra, Radiesse and Harmonyca. All of these will stimulate collagen and elastin thereby strengthening and enhancing elasticity for anyone starting to loose firmness. Additionally, they will each stimulate volume replenishment to varying degrees, for areas where volume is lost over time. We believe they each have a unique quality and a different personality and therefore we recommend a through consultation and facial assessment beforehand so that one of our experts can guide you to the right treatment for you.
Sculptra is a biocompatible, biodegradable material that is made of very small particles of a polymer named “poly-L-lactic acid” (PLLA). This is injected into the skin to stimulate a reaction in order to correct facial lines, wrinkles and folds, for enhancing volume and for skin rejuvenation. This treatment creates a slow but progressive enhancement of volume and skin quality. A review appointment at 6-8 weeks helps to determine whether further treatment will enhance the results.
Radiesse is based on the biocompatible, biodegradable material that is made of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres. This is a biocompatible material that the body can naturally absorb. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, Radiesse stimulates the body to produce its own collagen, leading to a natural and potentially long-lasting result. This is injected into the skin to correct facial lines, wrinkles and folds, for enhancing volume and for skin rejuvenation with a temporary and immediate volumising effect. Slowly this is broken down and replaced by your body’s own collagen and elastin.
HarmonyCa is a hybrid injectable intended for facial soft tissue augmentation as it contains both hyaluronic acid (HA) and calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHa). Hyaluronic acid is well-known for its hydrating and volumising properties, making it a cornerstone ingredient of dermal fillers. The addition of calcium hydroxyapatite in HArmonyCa takes it a step further. As a biostimulator, CaHA encourages the body to produce its own collagen, leading to long-lasting results that extend beyond the immediate effects of the filler.
What to expect at your appointment.
We will cleanse the skin to prepare it for injection.
A very fine injection is made in the areas we wish to treat meaning there is little to no discomfort. We may also use a blunt tipped needle known as a cannula to spread the treatment to the target tissues. There is usually very little downtime associated with this treatment as redness and raised injection sites settle very fast.
The treatment takes up to 2 weeks to settle allowing time for bruising or swelling. We like to check-in after treatment to ensure a perfect result has been achieved and if it is your first time, we book in a review so that we can assess the result together. A less is more approach is always favourable and sometimes a follow up additional treatment may be needed to reach the final intended result.
